Day 7 - Sundance

We took the bus to the Rose Wagner Theater in Salt Lake and watched a couple of movies.

It definitely felt different. Unique. Creative. New. It was my first field trip as a teacher.

 

Day 6 - Retro Day

We dressed up like kids, because we want to create like kids, be unafraid like kids, and be excited about making things and showing everything off.

You ranked the poems.

You paid your $7 to the finance office for our Sundance trip on Friday.

You brainstormed project ideas for PROJECT #1.

Day 4 - Mini-Slam #1

Holy crap, we read poems.

People read new stuff, old stuff, and everything in between.

We read from our blogs, we read from the poetry bracket, we read from our journals. 

We should definitely do that again.

(I also passed out sign up sheets for the Sundance field trip next Friday, 1/30)
(I also reminded you to tell me your blog and to write on it)
(I also told you to get a notebook for this class: a new one, an old one, a leather one, whatever)
(I also suggested we do an Oscar ballot as a class)
(I also introduced Project #1, where every student will make something. More details to come)

Day 3 - Poetry Bracket

Well, I ate Reagan's apple.  

 

And then I put you to work. 

We're making new poetry books. This book is for my sophomores, but you will all get a copy as well. If you have an idea for a poem that needs to be in the bracket, let me know.

We talked about a poetry project some teachers are working on. It's a poem. It's a video. It's for a CARE team assembly on February 11th.

I still haven't really decided on Journals and Blogs and Projects and How To Get an A? and What Will We Do In Class? and Why Should I Show Up Again? and What's Preventing Me From Being 20 Minutes Late? and How Is This Different Again? and a bunch of other stuff.
